It was 10 am on a bright and clear morning in South Florida. My cousin Ceci and I were dropped off in our cute custom made tank tops at the port of Miami to board the Norwegian Sky cruise to the Bahamas and we were so excited because this weekend was our cousin Alex's bachelorette party. We were ready to have the time of our lives and live it up by partying with our cousin and her other bridesmaids on this bachelorette party getaway. Within moments after Alex and the other girls had made it onto the ship, the music was bumpin', the drinks were flowing and the celebration had begun. My favorite things about this ship were the all inclusive pricing, live music, the DJ's, the clubs, the healthy food options, and the destinations.
Overall the boat was large, spacious and I never felt like it was too crowded. There were many things to do on the ship. We really enjoyed dancing, playing games we brought with us, watching people drunkenly sing karaoke (Don't Stop Believing because of course), hanging out on the pool deck and drinking ocean side on their private island Stirrup Cay. Other fun activities included shopping at the boutiques, trying your luck at the casino, watching a comedy show, eating at multiple restaurants, kids' activities and working out at the gym.
The room was really small, as I think most rooms on cruises are unless you splurge. We really just used the room to sleep and get ready for the day/night. We were never really in the room so I think it was just what we needed.
On the last night my cousin and I decided to break away from the group to enjoy the sunset on the boat and my, it was breath taking. Being there with her was so memorable but I know that if we had our hubbys with us it would've been so romantic! I would say that if you're looking for a nice getaway with your significant other, then this cruise would be so fun and relaxing. If you are single, I would also suggest checking out this cruise because once people start to relax and the drinks are flowing, you will meet new friends and share new memories. If you have a group of friends in the 21-35 age range, then partying on this cruise is a ton of fun because there are a lot of other groups in the same age range who cruise too, so you end up meeting people from around the world who are celebrating as well and that makes it even more fun. If you book this cruise knowing what I've shared with you and have no expectations of how to spend your time, then just let the exploration begin and you will be pleasantly surprised with the new adventures that will come your way.
The cost of the cruise was $630.00 including gratuity, tax and insurance, per person based on 4 girls in our room, for a 4 day 3 night get away. I do think it's worth the price and would recommend it to other guys or girls for similar celebratory events like bachelor/bachelorette parties, birthdays, college graduations, etc. The fact that everything (including alcohol) is included while on the ship and at their private island makes for a great bang for your buck. I don't usually have a ton of drinks so this wasn't as important to me as it was for the others but it was nice not having to carry a wallet or worrying about settling up a check while in a group setting.
The food was pretty good too. They did have a lot of options at the buffet for a vegetarian and vegan. I was concerned about breaking my diet while on the ship, but I was so happy to be able to make a healthy breakfast and a big salad at the buffets and enjoy the elegant dining options in the main hall... And trust me I did enjoy the fries and pizza for late night snacks as well. For those with a sweet tooth they had a crepe bar, soft serve ice cream by the pool for the hot afternoons and desserts in the dining room that were to die for! Some of the other dishes enjoyed were french onion soup, pesto pasta, steak and fish dishes.
The overall service of the ship was 5 stars! They worked so hard to ensure everyone in our party was having a good time. They helped us with our bags on arrival, served us at all our meals, kept us entertained and celebrated with us!
My overall experience on Norwegian Sky was 5 Stars because of the good company and of course, because the ship was so much fun! In my everyday life I work so hard and this type of getaway was short, sweet and most of all memorable! When else do I get to wake up, eat, drink, party, sleep and repeat? I think that the best part about cruising over traveling via plane and staying at a hotel is the fact that you get to relax (and party) as soon as you get on the ship. For me this was a major plus. Traveling via plane, I usually have to endure the flight (often several hours long), take transportation to the hotel, check in and drop off my luggage before I can finally relax and start my vacation so this was a nice change.
If you have been on Norwegian Sky or another cruise I would love to hear about your experience and why you would or wouldn't recommend it. Comment below and for more info on our trip to the Bahamas click below.
